I was reading this article on the BBC news webpage about the Nikoli puzzles, and this one paragraph stood out (although I think the interviewer is a little confused about how long the Slitherlink puzzles have been available...):

I think there's tons of good stuff out there that hasn't been discovered.
I'd recommend taking a look at conceptis puzzles for the next good "language independent" puzzle (aka uses only numbers and logic)
Puzzle Japan, whose website shut down, had a game called nurikabe, which is almost slitherlink good. If you could find it, I'd recommend it.

Yeah Puzzle Japan shut down. I was a member for about 2 years there. However, the puzzle makers from that site are now part of Nikoli which you can subscribe to. |

Did anyone here used to be a member of the older "Paint by numbers" puzzle site (most recently seen in the vicinity of pbn.homelinux.com)? I finished all the puzzles and even mystery S a few years ago, but never did quite crack mystery C. The site seems to have gone belly-up now though.  |
