Up to this point with common patterns. Then,if we take the NW corner of topright 3

we get closed loop(s)

Whenever I see this 3,2 form in the corner

My first guess is this :

Is there any substance in this choice?

For what it's worth, there is a little more you can fill in on your first diagram using simple patterns (parity)

- row 2, col 1, "2" must have line on RHS
- row 1, col 5 must have a line on its top edge

Also
- there cannot be a vertical line between the "1"s in r2c7/8, otherwise there is no escape for whatever is in the TR corner of the puzzle.

Importantly for your question though, the "2" in r3c10 must be inside the loop. It's easy to see if you use shading, or can keep track in your head of what's in/out of the loop.

That forces lines on the TL of the "3" above it, and that corner (and the rest of the puzzle) falls out.

edit: so, for what to guess for that corner? It may well be that your suggested pattern is correct more often than not, but it is far from guaranteed to be that way, so don't rely on it.

Thanks, maybe it's just the recent puzzles I've solved have had it that way. In timed daily puzzles , in late game I just assume that would be the correct choice
