Sorry, unclear wording. I just meant standard counting deductions incorporating lines whose exact location is not finalised, but whose number can be determined. | MondSemmel Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 6159 Best Total: 7m 47s | Posted - 2008.08.28 18:48:05

Ah, that makes more sense . Yes, that's very important in beasts.
I've finished both #98 and #99 now - although I guess I could have finished especially #98 much faster if I hadn't spread my time across so many sessions... #99 was definitely the most difficult beast, I think, especially in comparison to #88 - but it also definitely wasn't several times more difficult than #88 or #73. As pqg said, progressing from the top left to the bottom right gave tons of useful T&E opportunities, both for big highlander sections and for situations where the loop closed too early (i.e. more than one loop). Time needed for #99? Several hours, definitely, but I actually have no idea how many exactly - 5+? Mainly because I've become really fast at T&Eing big parts of the beasts, not because the puzzle was easier than some others. On the other hand, this same kind of progression actually existed in #88 - if the left side of #73 had been harder, the whole puzzle would have been a lot harder than #88 or #99.
Thanks for the puzzles, as always - Naivoj, could you post some more of them :>? | astrokath Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 3258 Best Total: 13m 42s | Posted - 2008.09.03 11:27:50 Just finished #99 - it took quite a while, and I also ended up completing it from TL to BR. This was one of the more time consuming ones for me, but I felt that I didn't need to think quite as far ahead for this one, and managed not to mess it up half a dozen times (unlike the last couple of ET beasts!) |
