User-created puzzles |
foilman Kwon-Tom Admin Puzzles: 3628 Best Total: 24m 6s | Posted - 2007.04.08 23:01:51 I've added an exciting new feature to the web-site - user-created puzzles.
To create puzzles yourself for other people to solve, look for the new "my puzzles" button on your home page.
To solve other people's creations, have a look in the archives section of the site.
Note that you can't create puzzles until you've solved at least 10 of the normal daily puzzles, and you'll be allowed to create one puzzle for each daily puzzle that you've solved after your first 10.
Any questions/problems/feedback, post them here... enjoy! |
foilman Kwon-Tom Admin Puzzles: 3628 Best Total: 24m 6s | Posted - 2007.04.08 23:04:11 One other point I forgot to mention - puzzles that you create don't have to be available to everyone. You can choose to keep them private if you wish; in fact, all puzzles you create are initially private until you mark them as available to the public.

Jankonyex Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 5680 Best Total: 9m 35s | Posted - 2007.04.09 08:33:44 What about if puzzles include more than one solutions ?
Edit:
You found a solution to that puzzle that the author [] hadn't anticipated - well done! The puzzle has been disabled until the author fixes it.
By the way, your elapsed time was [].

foilman Kwon-Tom Admin Puzzles: 3628 Best Total: 24m 6s | Posted - 2007.04.09 09:55:27 Yes, it was fine when I was testing it with all my own puzzles, but as soon as other people posted them it all fell over! Hehe.
Should be fine now. |
Jankonyex Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 5680 Best Total: 9m 35s | Posted - 2007.04.09 09:55:30 ok now.

Para Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 1923 Best Total: 19m 28s | Posted - 2007.04.09 12:30:04 OK, that # 23 is a one time only puzzle. Managed to solve it, just took ages to get an opening in the puzzle. |
bear Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 1066 Best Total: 34m 35s | Posted - 2007.04.09 17:17:26 I finally got #23, but wow. Seems like every line is a struggle. Several times I had to do a double fix position to find anything. I spent quite a while doubting that an answer was possible. |
procrastinator Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 1083 Best Total: 12m 56s | Posted - 2007.04.10 16:41:44 On the other hand #25 is very easy if you start with the line of symmetry. |

only if the puzzle have any symmetric solution.

astrokath Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 3258 Best Total: 13m 42s | Posted - 2007.04.11 11:38:22 Nice work, guys!
Still have #22 and #23 to crack... :O
#25 worked okay once I figured out the symmetry.

procrastinator Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 1083 Best Total: 12m 56s | Posted - 2007.04.11 13:09:10 ant1: I can't solve your puzzle; it has about 3 ambiguities in it. One in the top left and at least a couple in the top right.
So I submitted one of the possible solutions and it killed the puzzle.
And the next incarnation. Still in the top right, I think.
Yep, this one looks good. Third time lucky.

foilman Kwon-Tom Admin Puzzles: 3628 Best Total: 24m 6s | Posted - 2007.04.11 13:20:09 Yes, if a puzzle has more than one solution it will disable it - my simple checker can't find multiple solutions, so I left it up to the solvers. |
Para Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 1923 Best Total: 19m 28s | Posted - 2007.04.11 13:40:18 Sam, your puzzle was non-unique. But i see it is gone now.
greetings

sam Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 2250 Best Total: 24m 39s | Posted - 2007.04.11 13:53:04 I know - I was only playing with the 'My Puzzles' as part of my work avoidance scheme in the office. I made it public and have since had lots of e-mails telling me that various people have proven my puzzle to be rubbish.
I've had 6 variant solutions so far, which must be a record. |
Para Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 1923 Best Total: 19m 28s | Posted - 2007.04.11 14:01:24 OK, as long as you are having fun. |
sam Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 2250 Best Total: 24m 39s | Posted - 2007.04.11 14:08:22 Not having fun, it's just been shot down by procastinator. Thta's the second time he/she's done that so I've abandoned the idea. |

I'm such a meanie!
Not that there's any way for me to tell which of the possible solutions is yours and hence will leave your puzzle active.
You probably only need one more number (or two to maintain symmetry) to disambiguate it, once you've found where the two solutions differ. (Might need more numbers if there's more than two solutions.) Have you gone through and attempted to solve it by hand? If you used a Fix Position to solve it, you can probably find the other solution by guessing the opposite way to your original FP. |
