When clicking on an unsolved puzzle, if the option "Confirmation required to start a current weekly puzzle for the first time?" is checked, then the following dialogue appears: "You are about to begin a current puzzle for the first time - continue?"

Bug report: I've noticed that within the last few weeks, and this only applies to the Standard (non-Variants) puzzles, when I click "no" in that dialogue and then refresh the page, then the timer has started, anyway. (This occurs in up-to-date desktop Firefox on Windows 11; I haven't tried other browsers or OSes.)

I'm using Firefox and windows 7. I've clicked the " no continue " and found later that the timer have been  running for some time. That made me click even the " yes " immediately

Separate bug report: Gmail filed Kwontomloop's Topic Reply Notification email as spam, probably due to the complaint "Security: unrealbritain.co.uk did not encrypt this message".

Thanks for the report - it should be working correctly now, so if you reply "no" the timer won't start.
