Saturday 22nd April... tricky one! |

I thought my slow time was because I was tired after a long weekend, but looking at the results it seems I wasn't the only one who had trouble with it. Well done to oyvind for getting a sub-twenty-minute time! I wonder if anyone will beat it...? |
PuzzleLover Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 1033 Best Total: 38m 17s | Posted - 2006.04.23 23:38:35 I found it pretty tricky. I've gotten better at avoiding mistakes that require reset, but I made a few on this puzzle. Starting it late night and needing a sleep break to resume it didn't help my time much either |

I messed up twice, near the end, and restarted. Tried again yesterday, and still couldn't break 20mins.
[Took a book of slitherlink puzzles on holiday with me, to keep my hand in. But they were all too easy, even without using "crutches"!]

I found the same with a book I imported from Japan. I was expecting some challenges, but even the hard ones were just a little bit too easy... |
drnull Kwon-Tom Obsessive Puzzles: 1053 Best Total: 23m 25s | Posted - 2006.04.26 16:21:45 I found it difficult as well... I guess I got lucky on it like oyvind. I just tried it again, and it took 39 minutes. A minute or two, I was distracted from it, but other than that, it just took that long.
One thing I'm finally starting to actively look for are 2's that are isolated (no number up, down, left, or right from them) and see if the lone-2 rule (or highlander argument, as some like to call it) helps out any.
Particularly, for this puzzle, you had a situation like
(this is just a view into the center of the puzzle, no boundaries implied here) You can immediately add a line and 2 x's here. |

Oh, yes!
[Had to stare at it for a minute, mind...] |
